The Crown andAnchor pub ( where Max Wall lived as a boy) and Rudkins ironmongers stood facing up the market place, the auctioneers offices, as well as the Phoenix cafe were demolished and the present day Market street development took their place. Tesco car park was where animals were penned and was extended when St Michaels school moved out of the town centre.
