June 2022: renovation in progress. Renovation has been continuing throughout the Pandemic Lockdown (since March 2020) because the specialist work is being undertaken by volunteers.
There were originally five older shelters in De La Warr Parade but one was destroyed in World War Two. This is the nearest to the Town Centre, they are then at regular intervals on the Promenade extending towards Galley Hill to the east. Unlike the New Shelters in West Parade, all appear to be different, although two are currently obscured by scaffolding and plastic sheeting.
